Rishton Glass and Windows, Burnley, Lancashire
Rishton Glass was established in 1996 at Unit 1A Hermitage Street Rishton by brothers Stephen & Declan Keenan. Originally Rishton Double Glazing the Company was on the verge of closedown. Having over 30 years experience between them and worked for several double glazing companies locally the brothers decided to take the plunge and set up their own Company. The purchase of the machinery and a slight name change brought about the Company, Rishton Glass.
Initially the manufacturing of double glazed units, commercial glazing contracts and the occasional uPVC installation were the usual workload. Such was the success of the uPVC installations that a small conservatory showroom was opened in the workshop. Soon the uPVC installations became the majority work carried out by the Company.
Move to larger premises
In the September of 2000, due to the success of the showroom and the increasing demand for their high quality installations the Business purchased and moved into a larger 5000 square foot premises at Henry Street, Rishton. Continuing to manufacture their own double glazed units and purchase PVC frames locally business was going from strength to strength. Now employing a full time 2 man fitting team and a 3 man sealed unit production team the Company was just about coping with demand.
Frame Manufacture
As the Company continued to expand it was increasingly difficult to find a window supplier who could keep pace with the necessary turnaround. The time was now right to start manufacturing their own frames. Having used the Veka system for some years it made sense to approach Veka to become one of their manufacturers.
As part of the Veka work ethic and boundary issues the Company were unable to manufacture in their Rishton premises. The nearest available opportunity to manufacture was the Burnley area. A new separate Company still owned by Stephen and Declan, called Windows Direct was formed, and soon the new premises was purchased and production of the Veka Matrix system began in 2006.
Rishton Glass & Windows Ltd
Now operating from 2 separate factories they were in full control of window and sealed unit production. Having the new premises in the Burnley area presented another opportunity to build on the success already created by the Company. As uPVC installation had taken over as the main function of the Company it made sense to rename the Company, Rishton Glass & Windows Ltd.
Current Position
In January 2009 the next door unit at the Burnley site became available and the difficult decision was made to get all production under one roof. Having forged strong links with Rishton over a 13 year period and having a satisfied customer base and also securing an ongoing contract with Hyndburn Homes Ltd the relocation has worked well and again business and production are going well. The premises at Rishton are still owned by Stephen and Declan and are currently on lease to several local businesses.
To keep a presence with the Hyndburn area the Company has recently taken out advertisements with a local bus Company and all calls from the area are diverted to the Burnley office. About 70% of our installations are carried out in the Hyndburn area.
Our 2 Directors or any one of our staff will be happy to show you round our factory by prior arrangement, to see your windows, doors, composite doors or conservatory in production.
